@b4igetu I can't agree with the taking the weight off thing. The leverage is the same. Flat front points seem a little more stable in soft ice. I used the black diamond sabertooths for years, these days I am using the vertical points. Honestly I don't really notice a diffrence.

The flat front point crampons take allot of weight off your calves as opposed to the thinner serrated front point crampons. Even thought the serrated front point crampons are marketed as ice climbing crampons many pros prefer the front point crampons for ice climbing.
