When knitting with multiple colors one of the problems in stranded color work is the backsiede of the fabric. This video shows a technique for Continental style knitting that makes it easy to work fluently, catching the floating other color in every second stitch.
The pattern I work in this video is Garnstudio.com, No. 116-10. The pattern you find here:

http://garnstudio.com/lang/en/visoppskrift.php?d_nr=116&d_id=10&lang=en

a second video covers the purl side.

I now have a video with the slow-motion of the technique uploaded if you want to see everything in detail even closer up.

  • I'm so glad you showed this. Very helpful but I knit in English style so I'll have to figure out how to do this special twist in English style. I've tried Continental but I've just never been able to get the hang of it.

    Hi!

I am glad I could hep you. In my blog I have linked videos for several differnet styles of knitting - also an "only English"-style video.

Maybe you want to take a look at it?

I am not getting comfortable with English style, so we each have to find our way.

    Have fun!

  • This is the best way to do color work and the fastest!

  • Very Clever!!, Love it!!.

  • fantastic video! ty! I can't seem to find the english only video on your blog though. I'm hoping to carry two colours in my left hand as you've shown and one in my right for three colour knitting. Any idea how to twist the right hand wool in with the twisted one on the left hand? Thanks so much!

  • That was phenomenal. I was looking to refresh my knowledge of how to do color work, and you showed me a completely different way. No more loops for me. Thanks for posting.
