Dmitri Berlinsky performed with great success in two concerts with the Valley Symphony Orchestra, one at the UTPA Fine Arts Auditorium in Edinburg,TX., and the other at El Teatro Reynosa in Reynosa, Mexico, on May 11 and May 12, 2006. Peter Dabrowski is the Music Director and Conductor of the VSO. Included is an excerpt from the 1st movement of the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto in D Major.

Mr. Berlinsky arrived on the International scene as the youngest winner of the Paganini International Competition in Genoa, Italy. This victory led to his performance on Nicolo Paganini's own Guarneri del Gesu instrument, a privilege shared by only a handful of artists in history. Subsequent triumphs at the Montreal International Competition (Grand Prize), the International Tchaikovsky Competition and the Queen Elizabeth Competition in Brussels, led to appearances with major orchestras in Europe, Russia, the Far East, North and South America.

Recent highlights include performances with the St. Petersburg Philharmonic, Sinfonia Toronto, Brott Festival Orchestra, Utah, Virginia, Kalamazoo, Miami, San Antonio, and West Virginia Symphonies, and I Musica de Montreal in Canada and the United States, as well as the Casals Festival in Puerto Rico and festivals in Italy, Belgium, Germany, Scandinavia, Taiwan, and Costa Rica.

  • On Sunday there will be a Berlinsky concert in our town, in Budapest. What do you think, is it worth going and listen to his playing?

  • As a member of the VSO 1st violin section, and a high school orchestra director for 32 years, I highly recommend that you attend the mentioned concert. You may also check his new website at Home-Dmitri Berlinsky...after searching Dmitri Berlinsky on your browser, for additional audio and visual clips.

  • Does Mister Berlinsky teach somewhere?

  • Mr. Berlinsky is a professor of violin at Michigan State University.

  • Dmitri Berlinski and Elena Baksht are married. They are both great people as well as fantastic musicians. They concertize separately, but often give recitals together.

  • Beautiful!

  • His father taught me how to play the violin back in Brooklyn. I got into a fights with his fathers other son back in 1st grade when I moved here from the Ukraine. We became best friends, mom hired father as teacher.

My heart swells thinking of my past.

  • fantastic Dmitri Berlinski

  • It's great !!!

  • This is played really fast here.... I don't think it is a recommendable tempo. He is rushing some of the phrases that would do better with a bit more length and depth. But maybe it was the conductor who desired a faster than usual tempo. Who am I to say this though? Maybe some people prefer it quicker.

Excellent playing. Technically, he is outstanding.

  • Want to hear more! :)

  • Fantastic playing! Berlinsky is the best!

  • just wow
