This young Gray Whale is in MacNeil bay, a suburb (Oak Bay) of Victoria B.C. in Canada, and is relaxing in the shallow bay. They are uncommon this far south on Vancouver island, but this one was here for nearly two days. We see the occasional orca pods, but this is a first for a gray whale. I took this video off my deck as I had my morning coffee. No bumpy wind whipping whale watching boat ride for me! The island in the back is Trial Island which has a lighthouse and radio antennas, and is home to many seals and bald eagles.
