Besides takeoff and landing on roads the Volkswaffle floated on water for amphibious landings after being launched from U-boat decks. It could land in the ocean beside the U-boat and be winched back up on deck. They could insert special forces or conduct raids on the US. Production was too late for Germany to employ them in force before the war ended. Postwar, WW-I aircraft engines lacking thrust for flight replaced the rocket engines. The project then morphed into the Volkswagen automobile.
