A video of the many beautiful sights seen from the Trans-Mongolian Railway - best when viewed in HD. The Trans-Mongolian is 7865km long and crosses three countries and two continents on it's way from Moscow to Beijing. The Trans-Mongolian Railway is a part of the Trans-Siberian Railway - a.k.a. "The Orient Express".

Watch a 16min version here: http://vimeo.com/19916484

Filmed in HD on Sony equipment during the summer of 2008. Sound recording and mixing in stereo/surround.

  • nice, how many days total did you go for? i'm looking to do trans siberian railway from moscow, ending in china, and visiting mongolia as well. is 1 month enough you think?

  • Thanks for the comment. All in all we were away for 17 days - 6 of them on the train. We had a whole day in Moscow, a couple days around lake Baikal, 3 days in and around the capitol of Mongolia, and finally 4 days in Beijing. You can easily spend more time than what we did in every place (or get off at other stops). Going west to east is nice - it messes with your inner clock and gives you jet lag for sure - but we found people to be friendlier the more east we travelled.
