There are so many doomsday theorys out there it realy is getting quite boaring, things will work themselves out, the drugs will be controoled, banned or not made in the first place, stop worrying about how the world will die and society will crubmle.

Exactly! There is no moral difference between genetic engineering and attempts to shape children through social influences.

She didn't give a good response to his scattering point. In actuality, the genetic changes, as long as they are done ethically (that is, not breeding supersoldiers, etc), we will not scatter to the degree he assumes. Humanity has in common certain values in what are considered natural gifts and defects. Certainly there will be a general trend in that direction. Intelligence, health, attractiveness, longevity, athleticism... these are all traits that will be selected for accross the board.

" biotec companies are you and me and a wizkid in Biafra."

I don't have the kind of lab equipment it takes to modify genes and I doubt you or some "wizkid" does. Instead of skirting my questions tell me how this "revolution" is for the overall betterment for man kind and not for the largest companies of the world.

Also this empowerment you speak of is a double edged sword. I agree we have amazing technology available to almost everyone. But it is the management that needs improvement first.

aww you don't have the equipment. Boohoo. That's the thing dude. MAKE it with your 3d Printer. Don't have a 3D printer? Have your friend print you one. Yup make all the lab equipment you need to do what ever test and experiments you want with great ease and near zero expense. What corporations? The decentralization of manufacturing breaks those monopolies in a frazzle dazzle that would put a smile on Karl Marx's mug.

I'm an engineering major so, I'll tell you what you print me a 3D printer from your 3D printer and ship it to me. Then you, and your "wizkid" friend and I will get the ball rolling.

Let's do it!!

So when can I expect my 3D printer?

I've made mine from tree lawn scrap and a few cans of map gas. What are you waiting for?

I'm waiting for you to print me a copy of your 3D printer and ship it to me. You can be the President-CEO of our company and I'll be the VP.

So when can I expect my 3D printer?

Sorry you find it so out of line. What makes you such a fucking pessimist?

It's not that I find it out of line, it's just unrealistic. In order to make lab equipment you need steel of surgical quality, glass, and copper at minimum. Those are just the elements. The printer can't print those.

I'm sorry I sound like such a pessimist I'm just a realist who did have his head in the clouds. I'm all for curing cancer, however I do not want to see another silly divide drawn between people. We have enough lines already with all the different religions.
