It's not the mayor fault at all. Parent(s) have to step up and raise their childern better. By teaching them right from wrong and watching their daily activities. Work together as a community to prevent gangs, and bad influences. Majority of the time when a crime has been commited people don't speak up. How can you expect a change when your not taking the first step to begin with.? If you want violence to stop do what you have to do to have it stop.

Every other minority in this City (including many African Americans) have WORKED themselves out of the projects and poverty! The second you feel sorry for yoursleves you're doomed. Don't blame the Mayor, don't blame the cops, don't blame "outsiders" just fuckin work and move and live your life the right way. Where do you think those "outsiders" came from. Not too long ago their grandparents and parents lived in the ghetto's of the city. They lived right and worked to provide for their kids.

I'm only 25 and i live on the Northside of Chicago. My mother grew up in a dangerous area in Humboldt Park and my father grew up on the south side. They now are the owners of there own beautiful home and in an area that you don't have to worry about walking out of your house and getting shot. They made the choice to succeed and they had the will and heart to do it. No excuses if they could do it so can anybody!!!!!! Stop blaming the politicians, cops, and white man look in the mirror!!!

like the movie Boyz From Da Hood i feel as if parents really do control the violence with in their district. even so they aren't really responsible for the child's actions after constantly beating the rights into their children's brains. just because once that child grows he or she will do what ever they want to do. people want to make it out of CHI-Town, but without a safe place to make progress in what can they do? with out money how can they get out? foodstamps?
