During the holidays we tend to see a spike in the number of people arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. In 2011 the Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office kicked off our first ever "Choose Your Ride" campaign. Sheriff John Whetsel challenges drivers to do the right thing by calling a taxi to get around if they have been out drinking. Other choices for rides include a law enforcement patrol vehicle to jail, an ambulance service to the hospital, or a hearse to the morgue.
The choice should be simple a taxi ride will keep drinkers from going to jail, injuring themselves or others, and worst case causing someone to be killed as a result of an alcohol related crash.
