Genial!!! Gran interprete, vocalmente era lo mas cercano a la perfección y, además, muy inteligente a la hora de elegir que repertorio cantar y cuando cantarlo. No en vano llego a los 72 años con la voz intacta en sus agudos. Es El Ejemplo a seguir por todo estudiante de canto lirico...

EL MEJOR DEL SIGLO XX si no llenó tantos teatros ni se proyectó como otros cantantes clásicos de su tiempo, se debió a las políticas de marketing y los padrinos o madrinas que apoyan a tal o cual artista. Si hubiera participado en el Concierto de los Tres Tenores, habría dejado de manifiesto, ante el terror de los managers y las políticas publicitarias, de que él, era el mejor y el concierto habría quedado titulado para la posteridad como ALFREDO KRAUS Y LOS TRES TENORES,

@nobodyimportant09 By "pedestal" I mean revered to the level like Callas or Corelli, etc. I mentioned Bocelli because, like Pavarotti to a degree, he sounds more melodious than most serious singers, but that's just the nature of the beast with singing from the chest. I absolutely love the sound of Bocelli's "Mussetta, o joia della mia dimora" from Leoncavallo's La Boheme. So melodious, so sweet, so appealing to all ears, yet, not correct, not true opera singing, but pretty...che vai fare...

@Reinaldo146 I'm not really sure what you define as a 'pedestal'. From where i look, he seems more on a pedestal than some others you have listed. I never saw Kraus live either, but from what i've read, if he could not comfortably fill a theater over the orchestra in some role, he refused to sing it. Which is why he sang until 70. ( And how did Bocelli get into this discussion? )

@osiris2946 Esa es mi pregunta (vela en post en ingles). Por que Corelli tenia tanta preferencia de las casas de opera y de los fanaticos (especialmente cantando con Callas) si Kraus estaba en su apogeo durante el mismo tiempo? Tal vez su voz, aun siendo tan sutil y especial, que en grabaciones sonaba tan buena como otros grandes de su tiempo , no era suficiente para llenar La Scala, o el Metropolitan de NY sobre la orquesta al mismo tiempo que la de Corelli/del Monaco derrumbaban paredes?
