This special program was created by WTVJ Channel 4, Florida's 1st television station. The station went through its film files to pick out some highpoints in the stations progress and some of the events in the South Florida community illustrated by television coverage. The station went on the air on March 21, 1949. Stories WTVJ Channel 4, covered: Senate Crime Hearings, Arthur Godfrey and friends arriving in Miami; Local Shows, Cobbs Corner, Alec Gibson show, Glenn and Mickey, Bob Weaver, Alan Keyes the Vagabond, Lee Dickens Show; Circus, Charley Johns-Leroy Collins Debate, New Transmission tower on May 17, 1954, Undercover Bookie Surveillance, from May 9, 1955 Newscast Kinescope, Bumper to Bumper; first regular news editorial Sept. 2, 1957, in the nation, cape canaveral, first satellite launch in 1957, also coverage of successes and failures; fabricio silva death at orange bowl regata when his speed boat flips over; honky tonk program; cuba in 1959; hurricane donna in 1960; orange bowl games; sports; bay of pigs brigade 2506 prisoners arriving in miami; president kennedys visit to miami four days before he was assassinated.
