Find Your iPod or iPhone Serial Number Without Your Device

If your iPod or iPhone has been stolen you'll need your serial number, but I bet you never wrote it down.

Well, you can still find it. In this video I'll show you how to find your serial number from hidden iTunes log files.

FOR MAC USERS:

1) Open iTunes, then at the top left of your screen select iTunes > Preferences.

2) Click the Devices tab, then under the Device Backups window just simply place your mouse cursor over one of the listed backups for your device. You don't need to click it, just leave the mouse cursor on it for a few seconds.

And voila! It should show the device's phone number, IMEI, and serial number.

this helped a lot. it was a little harder for me since i'm using windows vista, but i eventually got it! for anyone using vista, click start > in the search bar type in itunes, and then click "search tools" > "search options" > view > click "show hidden files and folders"

@Gone2569 I know the feeling,trust me! I had my i-Pod stolen with over 5,000 hours of Bible lectures and sermon's on it plus $280.00 cash.I had a very good idea who it was and he did get caught. I received restitution but never got my i-Pod back. I laugh when I think that this young punk most likely burst into flames when he went to listen to it. Hahaha! I live in a small town (population wise) and I have the serial number. Who knows? Maybe it'll show up some day. GOOD luck and God Bless!

@HuskyHulaPike Hey if the Gizmodo guys got an Iphone 4 from a beta tester its probably because he sold it and then reported it lost or stolen so he wouldn't get fired from apple.
