@jonolemes They are going to phrase out the V sets in 2021....... the most likely guess will be a intercity version of the Waratah will replace the V sets....... that what i think

@Tarrant1976 Yeah it is, the A sets have been running around doing tests with engineers on board monitoring the computer/traction/braking systems.

@markcaetano Part of the specifications for the PPP project say that a fully loaded Waratah train must be able to tow/be towed by another fully loaded passenger train. I believe it was testing that the new trains comply with this requirement (hence why M22 is full of bottles of sand - to simulate the weight of a loaded train).
