  • It's a saltwater swimming crab, it doesn't need air and is fully aquatic. BTW the comment below me is not spam, I don't know why it was marked as such.

  • I have noticed that those crabs with the finlike hind legs behave in a markedly different way from the average crustacean. There is another video here on youtube that shows one repeatedly pulling a piece of bait on a rope back with it into the water, showing distinct goal-oriented thought. Most crabs sit around and wait for food rather than seek it out.

    I know the paddle-legs are developed for swimming, so maybe they have bigger brains to go with increased mobility...
