'Street racing' crash kills one, injures four at Woodville North Adelaide

UPDATED 12:48pm: Two men have been charged over a horrific high-speed crash at Woodville North which killed one man and left three others critically injured.

Police this morning arrested a West Lakes man, 22, and charged him with causing death by dangerous driving, two counts of causing injury by dangerous driving and one count of causing harm by dangerous driving.

The man was bailed to appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court on September 16.

He was allegedly the driver of a Subaru WRX that police said had been drag-racing another Subaru WRX, the alleged driver of which was arrested by police a short time ago. No details have been released by police.

The high-speed collision between two cars at the corner of Torrens Rd and Audley St, Woodville North, at about 8.45pm last night, killed one person and injured four others.

A WRX collided with a Toyota Corolla, which was not involved in the alleged drag-race. The Corolla was ripped apart by the impact, killing passenger Tom Brooks, 22, and seriously injuring his girlfriend, who was driving.

Friend Scott Littlewood, who visited the accident scene this afternoon to leave a tribute, told AdelaideNow that Mr Brooks was "a very, very good bloke'' with "a heart of gold".
