Iran launched the Omid (Hope) satellite
carried by an indigenous Safir-2 rocket

Omid is Iran's second satellite in orbit.
A previous Iranian satellite, Sinah-1,
was built and launched for Iran by Russia in 2005.

The "Western" powers, including former "Eastern Powers", will not stand by while Iran develops an ICBM capable launcher. This would be like letting them develop a nuclear technology- ain't gonna happen! This film is of at most an IRBM; possibly only an SRBM.

In fact, these are mini-satellites placed by intercontinental missiles into orbit, Iran takes advantage from its nearly equatorial positions for make easier launching.
