i dont understand...why do u need a coffee press...cant u do the same thing in a regular class container then just pouring it through a mesh filter?

Good video - thanks! The CoffeeGeek on here has a video in which he removes as much of the coffee grounds with cupping spoons before he plunges. I guess the idea behind that is it makes the plunging very very smooth and quick and keeps the coffee from continuing to steep in the grounds on the bottom. Perhaps removing the ground might ruin the crema...? I've never French pressed, but have the Bodum Columbia stainless steel one on order. Can't wait to try it.

I agree with Rod- it sounds like your water or your grind (if not the actual coffee itself) might be to blame. I tend to use filtered water and a coarser grind of my favorite blends than I would use in a conventional coffee maker.
And definitely stir before pressing! That's the one thing I forgot in the video!

micoolville: milli grazie per sue parole gentili! I worked at an Italian-American cafe for a few years and developed quite an affinity for their really good 'caffè'. e se trasmetto pace e serenità è perchè le caffè e mia jennimi!

snapesiren: it is *so* good. I think we're on our 48,000th cup or something (kidding). I'd offer some but the aroma-over-IP protocol is still in its infancy!
