This plane is called the "Schoolboy" that was only sold through Hobby Shack years ago. They no longer sell it. I gotta tell you, this plane was one of THE best flyers I ever owned and the tiny AP .09 Hornet engine installed, never missed a beat and it just sipped the fuel! The plane was not much of a looker but I still wished I had it. It was a 3 channel setup with rudder, elevator and throttle but no ailerons which made no difference in it's flying capabilities. It still turned on a dime. The reason why the plane veered to the right on takeoff in the video was because there was a perpendicular road at about that spot (entering my street) that allowed a channel of air coming up through it that acted as a crosswind of about 6-10 knots. I believe the music is from John Weight but I'm not sure. If anyone knows for sure, let me know. The year this was filmed was the year I finally got the hang of flying these. I tried for years and never gave up. If you're determined to learn to fly RC aircraft, keep at it and don't let a few or several crashes discourage you! EVERYONE CRASHES! I went through 2-3 airplanes which were balls of glue by the time they expired, before the light finally came on and I thought "Awwwwwww, this is how it's done". The rewards are awesome and I still fly today. But now I'm building the real thing: Kitfox 3 Experimental airplane.
This video was originally shot on an old Panasonic camcorder (manufactured in 1988) and had to be digitized into my computer. Same with the music: Extracted from a cassette. Everything meshed together in Sony Vegas and... walah.
