Max respect everyone with GENUINE background in martial arts knows what an effective striking art Savate is. Some of the best side and spinning back kicks in any martial art PERIOD!! Lots of Savate practitioners go on to be major forces in Muay Thai and Kick boxing, thanks to a base in Savate.

Am amazed that more MMA fighters don't check it out for its speed and fluid unpredictable attacks ........ their loss.

I think you pretty much nailed it yourself there. They teach you in savate to be as fluent as possible and to connect as much kicks and punches as you can in a single attack, this results in decreased power, but makes you unpredictable for your opponent. All kicks and punches in savate are whip like. We place speed and accuracy over power.

This might also result because lots of savate fighters start off competing in assault(light-contact) where there is no KO allowed. Hope I helped you a little.

@majaimay there ARE KNOCKOUTS, strongest savate blows ARE STRONGER than strongest box or kickboxing blows cause in savate you can do all kinds of spining crazy kicks and those are strongest blows human body can make. I must agree that they look weak but i asure you that average savate sidekick is way stronger than strongest punch in boxing. actualy only martial art that can make stronger blows than savate is tae kwan do (because they have even more advanced kicks)

So I have a question so anyone who actually practices savate feel free to answer. I know that matches are based on a strict point system, and in general no offense or anything it looks like the majority of blows are not real real strong. Not to say they're weak just not particularly damaging. Is this because of the point system or is it just the practice to be more light on your feet and wear your opponent down as opposed to going for a knockout blow?
