Final Fantasy VIII Anti-Junction - Boss 21, Tonberry King

When I first set off on my Tonberry slaying, I had little faith that I could actually defeat the King with no junctioning. But, I came up with a tactic that gave me hope; Have Rinoa do Invincible Moon before the last Tonberry is killed, ensuring I am invincible for the King's first attack. Then, inflict Meltdown on Tonberry (happens sometimes with Bad Breath, and Tonberry is not immune). Then, rely on Lion Heart and Shockwave Pulsar to deal good damage, whilst keeping up the Invcibility. However... this didn't go to plan. Firstly, Rinoa ended up killing the Tonberry with Angelo Cannon, Quistis' Bad Breath didn't cause Meltdown, and Squall was picked off... so again, like with the Brothers, Squall was KO'd early and it was all left to Quistis to deal the damage. SO I had no choice but to continue using Shockwave Pulsar. Then, mid way through the battle, Rinoa kept using Angelo Cannon instead of Invincible Moon! I was literally tearing my hair out at this point! Tonberry King, much to my amazement, remained docile, and didn't attack for aaaages. The finally, Rinoa and her dog decided to use Invincible Moon, and soon after, Quistis finished the King off with another Shockwave Pulsar. Quite a fight... and in an Anti-Junction game, quite an achievement to defeat Tonberry King!

the kamakaze ability if you junction it does around 30000 but kills that character.

Shockwave Pulse is the only move that can be done by a party member and has Break Damage Limit LVL1.

If squall hadn't died, the fight would have gone much faster. And how is it you are doing 10,000+ damage? I always thought the cap was 9999 damage. Does that rule not apply to shockwave pulsar?
