The 2008 Imperial Beach Sand Castle Competition draws over 300,000 visitors over a 2 day period and is the largest sand castle contest in the United States. We found out that there was a shortage of beach wheelchairs at the vent as we met with Luke who was trying to see some of the sandcastles but not able to with the wheelchair he had. If you have followed our videos at SoCal Beaches Magazine you know that OMBAC and the Over-the-Line Tournament helps raise money for these types of wheelchairs. If you have the ability to donate money for another beach bound wheelchair for Imperial Beach contact OMBAC - (they have members who can make the chairs) www.ombac.org or contact The City of Imperial Beach at http://www.ci.imperial-beach.ca.us/ - The City of Imperial Beach does have beach wheelchairs now and Luke mentioned that getting a beach wheelchair is normally not a problem, but they need more for special events.
