Spoiler! If you haven't seen it don't read this!At about 7minutes fifty seconds is the famous moving scene- watch her face closely. Some guy wrote at another YT version that its just another series of stills- it is, at 24 frames per second. She opens her eyes and blinks 3 times...sort of like Dorothy clicking her heels. In the next segment the pair are pictured with stuffed animals- and they don't move any more than the specimens do- so the scene in bed is where he got back in time, really, just for a moment, before being yanked back.- and one realizes that in this story, innocent people like them, (like us?) in love for a moment, are as doomed as the trilobytes. I didn't know about this scene- when I noticed it on the 4th or 5th viewing I was amazed, and ran the projector back several times to be sure. Wow. In a world of stagnant frozen moments, a tiny movement is like seeing a miracle. Someday we won't move at all. Carpe Diem, and Carpe Noctem, my friends! We take our choice of movements somewhat for granted. It is such a blessing to move through this world, and to have a living, breathing world through which to move. The suggestion that innocence, kindness, and feelings will perish long before the human race is the scariest notion here. May we never be as efficient as the cockroaches, who eat their dead pals. May we always strive to keep love in our hearts, no matter what. Dream better dreams for the future, please, than the world of "la jetee". Peace/ out.

  • I love your comments on this video and the movement of her face. You seem to really understand the concept.

    Thanks for posting this up!

  • Thanks my friend. James Baldwin said, "the past is what we carry with us into the future." If you haven't seen Southland Tales, btw, WATCH IT !!! It's 2007's answer to La Jetee. Tho it trods rather heavily on Flow My Tears, The Policeman Said by Phillip K Dick- almost a sideways borrowing of plot themes and characters, even dialog- reminds me of the sci-fi version of rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead, alas!

  • geez, thanx, rereading them I think I was a little high, but it holds togethefr- what if u saw life as a series of stills? we do of course- when we blink, when we sleep, we believe everything is where it was before- but you have taken a mental picture, and ignore most of the details, and think u undertand time and space. But when u blink the world disappears and then u see a new world...strange isnt it?

I repeat,do NOT watch this under the influence of phencyclidine,it will consume at least three days of your life, and that's a lot of stills!
