How to Give Yourself a Manicure - Tips/Tricks

i work as a receptionist @ a nail salon & i have picked up many tricks on how to give yourself a manicure & improve your nails :)

you'll need:

-cotton balls
-nail polish remover
-nail file/nail cutter
-warm water
-cuticle softener
-cuticle pusher
-cuticle cutter
-cuticle oil (i used solar oil)
-buffer
-duri cosmetics: nail growth system; rejuvacote

1. remove nail polish
2. cut or file nails
3. soak nails in warm-hot water (maybe even cold)
**the one thing you don't want to do is soak your nails before filing or cutting because that can ruin your nail, UNLESS you have REAAAALLLLLYYYYY strong nails**
4. apply cuticle softener on your cuticles
5. push back your cuticles gently, in circular motions
**don't push too hard, this can cause your nail bed to be damaged**
6. use the edge of your cuticle pusher to remove the dirt from under your nails
7. use a brush to remove the cuticle softener from your nails
8. dry your nails with a towel & push toward your knuckles to lift the extra skin surrounding your nails & your cuticles
9. cut the extra skin & cuticles
**do not cut too much, it can make your cuticles worse, & get cuts**
10. apply solar oil & massage it into your cuticles & ALL over your nail, even the tips
11. apply rubbing alcohol to help remove the oil & make it easier to apply nail polish
**you can either buff or polish your nails**
12. apply your base coat, two coats of nail polish, & a top coat
