New animated Hitchhiking Ghosts in The Haunted Mansion at Walt Disney World

The Hitchhiking Ghosts have been (temporarily?) replaced in The Haunted Mansion at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom by projected, animated, computer-generated versions of themselves, floating by. It appears, at the moment, that these are temporary replacements while the Audio-Animatronic figures behind the black projection screens are enhanced.

even though this is temporary, how "real" does it look? like can you tell it is on a black wall?

@KerriCP In person, it looks far less real than in this video. It's clear that they are projections on black fabric screens. I think of them as animated construction walls, while Imagineers work their magic behind the scenes.

@MetalDuckOnline Not at the moment... but keep in mind this is likely temporary while enhancements take place behind the scenes. Think of what you see here as an animated construction wall. It sure beats a fully blacked-out scene or closing the attraction!

Very very cool. I'm pretty much a fan of anything the imagineers do. Please don't ever get rid of Blaine Gibson or Marc Davis' original creations though!

i remember riding tht.....i was so little (i was lke 5)tht when it went up i would start going up out of my seat..my mom had to hold me down lawl it was fun..and u got to see the park's view when u went to the top......if u payed attention

I just tried this about a week ago. When you look at the screen, the ghosts will really look like they're trying to mess with you on your seat. You won't actually feel it though.
