Have you thought about the live coral and rocks going a little higher? At least for some of the coral's sake to get closer to the lights?

very basic to say the least. Skimming is fine. all u need is water flow for good bio filtration. Come on fellas do you read at all?

A protein skimmer is only one component in a comprehensive filtration system. Skimming alone will PROBABLY not be enough.

Depending on your set-up you're still going to need some sort of biological filtration (live rock, media, etc).
