  • yea can i use this casting method for blades or claws and wat kinda mold should i mke for it? any help thanks

  • if it's low details you can use plaster but latex or silicone will always give better results and demolding is so much easier with a jacket mold out of latex or silicone

  • Have you made any action figures or model kits using this method?

Good use of glue guns and glue sticks.

  • no but check out my other vids, I'm making full size fantasy body armor and helmets.

  • DUDE....u should really know that its easier to get 2 pots...fill one with water, fill the other with glue or w/e u use, then once the pot with water is boiling u put the other pot ontop of it....this melts the top pot without burning it....its what they do with wax to make candles

just thought id mention it i think it would work better..

  • your glue gun sounds like chestburster

  • when using plaster of paris make sure you make your mother mold thick enough, I'm talking .75 of an inch at least and reinforce with burlap ( a few layers, once you've got a good .50 of a inch base then add 3-4 layer of burlap making sure that you coat every layer with plaster fully that way every preceeding layer bonds correctly. It also help your mothermold from having any sharp edges (when you smooth out the plaster over the burlap.

  • yea ive heard some negative things about plaster of paris but since its going on the outside I will probably just get it because its so cheap and I will be getting my liquid rubber thats called mold builder (same stuff guyver guy used)

  • I haven't ordered it yet, car expenses. But I'll be using silicone rubber, as far as the mother mold goes you can use plaster of paris (hardware store) since you're not using it for fine detail just for stability.

  • yea I am just unsure about what plaster to get and im going to just get some of that liquid rubber the guyver guy used for his inner ruber jacket. The stuff i saw is only 16.00 and theres enough in their to get the helmet coated many times. What are you using for your inner mold?

  • bad idea, the hot glue is too flexible or you'd have to used alot, in any case a plaster mother mold is easier, less time consuming and no way near the mess, you can't handle hot glue (the parts that are dripping away, and trust me they will) can't be shaped by hand. Just got with plaster or fiberglass, plaster is easier and can be done in the home, the other two can't.
