Sounds exciting. In the Navy they drink, yell at people, and generally make everyone around them hate their lives, especially seamen working under them.

So if you take a BM on dry land before shipping out, are still you required to document the weight of cocain you transport back minus what YOUR cargo would have weighed?

do BMs always drive the boats or do they help with boardings and deck maintence

BMs do a lot in the Coast Guard. They both drive and maintain their boats, as well as act as boarding team members for their unit.

Boatswain's Mates are our service's shipdrivers. They are the ones that operate every single one of our cutters, small boats, etc. They are also a large rating (a lot of people), so there are a lot of job opportunities out there.

It all depends on where you get stationed. Remember though, even on the bigger cutters, you have the smaller, faster rigid hull inflatables (RHIs). As a BM you're the one driving.
