United States Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA) is asked about the lack of American action in Darfur region, Sudan in Beverly Hills, California on December 18, 2005.
TRANSCRIPT:
Given the current humanitarian crisis in Sudan, which former Secretary of State Colin Powell described as "genocide," why hasn't the United States taken necessary diplomatic and military action to end the suffering of millions of innocent men, women, and children?
Well, we've called it a genocide, and we have sent our emissary out there. The focus has got to be placed much harder on what's happening in Darfur, and the government is saying one thing and doing another. It's a crisis of major proportion, and the one place I get my faith is that young people like you never let us forget what is happening, and don't let us forget what is happening. Because there are people like Jon Corzine, who's just been elected the governor of New Jersey who made this a key point on his last speech, people like Russ Feingold, I serve with Russ on the Committee [on] Foreign Relations, and we need to keep the pressure on. It is so easy to pull the covers over your head because there's so much going on, especially when we have our own young men and women, and some not so young, facing such threats in Iraq. It's very difficult. I want to tell you I'm committed to doing what I can, and I want to thank you for bringing this up. Thank you very much.

leftwing, liberal elitist pig.Just watched her talking down to a general at a hearing ,demanding to be called senator instead of mam.How dare her be condescending to a soldier.I bet not one of her family ever [going back to ww2] ever served in the military.I guess thats for others to do[irish, poor southern whites] most jewish americans avoided military service by owning war factories and claiming college deferments[chuck scumer, barney frank, mike bloomberg etc.]

The United States needs to stop all this aid to Africa. We have poured so much money into that continent and it shows little return. The people of Africa need to step up and start the ball rolling, not the United States.

The people in Iraq don't look like us. Neither do the Chinese, who we helped out during the 1930's(they were being ethnically cleansed by the Japanese). Also, the Bosnians don't really look like us. Truth be told, we probably shouldn't have gone in. It wasn't ethnic cleansing as much as a civil war. The Serbs were treated as badly as any group over there.

Hmm, She works for us yet she acts as though she is the chosen one. She deserves no respect. We need to run all of these bulldykes out of town: boxer, pelosi, feinstein and frank.

US does not want to get mired in africa.... it still remembers somalia. Yes... and it is absolutely hipocritical of the left to say that these africans are worthy of peace through military intervention while the iraqi people are not. saddam was a murderer. mass murderer... killing hundreds of thousdands of iraqis. i'd call that a genocide, wouldn't you?

Their is no Constitutional basis for the depts of Education, Energy, Homeland security or anything to do with welfare but that dosen't stop federal government from thinking it's their job to be involved in it. The federal government needs to cut down in size and the sooner the better.
