September 18th saw the ending of Irish Rail services on the Rosslare Waterford line. Video shot on the platform of Rosslare Strand station while final train enters the station.
loved that train as child but yes the times never worked with the boat. had to close.
the boat arrived on time and by the time you got off the boat the train had left with no one on it and a mini bus to waterford cost someone big money for the expense
Only 1 train per day in each direction and the train times did not coincide with the times of sailings for Fishguard, Pembroke. Cherbourg or Roscoff.
Train depart Waterford just before the arrival of an Intercity from Dublin so no connecting service between the two trains for people from Kilkenny or Carlow.
Staff at Kent Station, Cork don’t know that the Dublin Intercity has connections at Limerick Junction for Waterford and Rosslare so safe to say the people of Cork don’t know either.
We are not there yet we are getting there allright, the Stone Age!. Retrograde step after retrograde step is all the political and ruling class and public services of this country are good for. The lack of imagination and intelligence of those under qualified daft short-sighted dime store dullards in Irish politics and public services is astonishing; they honestly think it’s logical to take the train off the line! Imbeciles.
As long as the Irish continue to vote for incompetent and corrupt leadership which they always do, this country will always be a badly ran retrograde nation with poor public services, when ever I think of the way things are ran and done in our nation the tune “DUELING BANJOS” comes to mind.
