This is our circa 1960 Gardner 4LW marine engine, we have set it up to run as a stationery engine just for a bit of fun. It was originally a generator on a 60 foot fishing trawler, but we will hopefully find the right boat to put it in in the future as the propulsion unit.
As a marine engine it makes 62hp at max revs of 1700rpm and 220 foot pounds of torque at 1300rpm

I had a small unit on the gardeners site just before it became an housing estate
I read in a canal magazine that gardeners planned to start rebuilding one of the best canal engines made there. then of course the site was flattened victor rice appointed the last manager there i believe i also read he appointed one at perkins and one at massey-fergusons not sure what happened next give them a ring

Sounds delightfull! I'm working on a 6L3 at the moment, these engines have such a quality feel, most things come apart and go back easily, even the cylinder heads were a dodle to remove.

A lovely engine, sounds great, I had a 6 lw in our yacht and over 10 years never let me down once, but don't forget to change the anode in the cylinder head to stop electrolysis great and thanks for video
