The reason why the boss is very strange is the fact that DJ Boy is not only trying to rescue his girlfriend, but also win a rollerstaking fight-race called Rollergame. The Dark Knights (the evil gang) were competing and didn't want him in it, so they kidnapped his girlfriend to try and get him out of the competition.

"Whispered soft words of apology into its tweeter."
That sounds like some kind of robo hentai fanfic.

The ending makes the English major in me twitch.
"Dangling participle. Sentence fragment. Comma, splice.
GERUND!"

An effusively maudlin epilogue isn't at all out of place in a game of high velocity mixmaster skate brawlin' and farting Aunt Jemimas.

Why they didn't keep the game how is was in the japanese version? It look great.

DJ reminds me of Beat from jet set radio

Thanks for the Omake at the end. It's touches like that that really make you one of the best LPers I've seen.

I saw the arcade version at a Pizza Hut when I was about ten or so. I thought it looked so cool. The Chippendale stripper boss is hysterical!
"Yes, it is strange when you beat up a male stripper in public and watch as he mysteriously deflates into a tentacle monster!"

also, Demon Kogure was the lead singer of a J-Metal band known as Sekima II (Sekimatsu) which was popular from the early 80s until they broke up on new year's eve of 1999

Best LP (or should I say IPAT) commentator on YouTube. Honestly.

I remembered seeing the arcade game. In that, the characters didn't move in clean orthagonal or diagonals, but rather kind of slid on an icy surface. I don't see any of that in your videos.
Also, where's freaky bat guy?
Anyway, thanks for sharing this.

Yeah, when I grumble about the arcade game's controls and general sluggishness, that's most of what I mean; DJ can't turn on a manhole cover, let alone a dime.
As for the freaky bat guy, if you mean the facepainted guy who appears in the intro, that's Demon Kogure, a very weird Japanese entertainer who provided voice clips for the Japanese version (the role Wolfman Jack played over here).

Another great LP from Un. Btw, how's Persona 4?

Fantastic! Except when you lose 3 hours of exploration in a single unlucky combat round. Save early, save often, folks...sigh.
