This video describes basic steps of the preparation necessary to record drums. This video does not go into serious detail, as there are MANY different processes, and I just wanted to detail what I do, specifically.

If you are already familiar with certain aspects of this tutorial, feel free to skip around to other parts using these links:

  • so, you can hook up 2 interface in on Software and you can control each line(channel?

  • @OFCFaithtower4

If I understand you correctly, yes. I hook both Firepods to the computer and control each input separately through Cubase.

  • What do you plan on doing with the songs when they are done? Will they just be demos? For personal use? Or are you looking to actually release what you produce?

  • @ELITEcaliber545

Right now I have no intention of releasing anything for money. Drumming is just a hobby for me, so all I've done is put videos up online. :) Maybe sometime in the future, but for now I'm just having fun!

Also, I'm not sure what "songs" you're talking about...I don't write songs, just do drum covers and write the drum parts for some collaborations and stuff online.

  • can younplug the mixer to the audio interface and can the interface work with mac?

  • @thirdydrummer1

I'm not sure I fully understand what you're asking, but when I use the Firepods, I do not use a mixer at all...the mixing is done through Cubase on the computer. The Firepods work through Firewire, so I don't see why a Mac couldn't use GarageBand or some other recording software along with the interface.

Nobody's making you watch the video.

  • Firepods (or similar set-ups) are normally around $450-500 apiece, but I got both of these used for around $200 each.

  • Hey I'm extremely new to all this, I need to know a few things : (by the way I have a presonus firepod with cubase LE)

My Cubase is only picking up the first two inputs that are marked "mic. Instrument". How do you get the other imputs recorded?

Also, my speakers aren't playing back anything when I record something. They work With all the rest of the computer but not playback of the recorded track. HELP PLEASE!

    Thanks for all the videos!

  • I used to have a pair of the Koss PRO4/AAA 'phones! Until I broke then :/ How do you like them?

  • what is the different between pre mixing and post mixing?
