U.S. Navy honors Lt. Michael Murphy (MOH) with destroyer

Today the Navy authenticates the keel for future USS Michael Murphy (DDG 112) at General Dynamics-Bath Iron Works shipyard in Bath, Maine. Participants will include Lt. Michael Murphy's mother, Maureen; father, Dan; and brother, John, who will confirm the keel is laid straight and true. Designated DDG 112, the ship is named in honor of Navy Lt. Michael Murphy, who was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for his heroic actions during Operation Red Wings in Afghanistan June 28, 2005.

Definition of a true American hero. He is truly an inspiration to many people. This man and his comrades have all my respect, but lets not forget the other heroes whose story of courage and valor is not recognized by the public. I'm sure they too have stared death in the face, but still thought about protecting the guys next to them.
