@jamesschender I think it's because they're both singers. It's easier to understand/respect someone does what you do (well), even if they seem a bit weird.

I think Merv was genuinely fond of Nina. I'm almost certain she was a guest at least 2 times, possibly 3. Their personalities although quite different seamed to complement one another. he always took her very seriously, unlike the other dingbats who were quests on the same day.
