just because you can't be put in a deep trance through hypnosis doesn't mean it doesn't work for everyone.

and besides, Darren is a professional and extremely good at what he does.

he chose these people specifically because he thought they were good candidates to be hypnotized, etc.

if she had passed out, she would've been dead weight, and not at all able to hold her phone.
