A brief view of the unusual Buttes-Chaumont ("Bald Mountain") park in Paris, the third largest park in the city. Built on order of Napoleon in the 1860s, the park occupies the locations of a former gypsum quarry and fertilizer farm. It is notable for its extreme variation in elevation, some 20 stories between its highest and lowest points. It also has some other unique features, such as a very high waterfall, a grotto, several bridges, a series of streams feeding a central lagoon, a temple high on a butte, and other things.
The end is a bit abrupt. Sorry about that.
An excellent film! It's really whetted my appetite to get to this park one day soon. Many thanks!

@LudwigTricorn Glad you like it. It's a park that isn't much known to tourists but it is uniquely attractive in a number of ways, especially thanks to its dramatic geography.

Beautiful, beautiful. Other than seeing this park on a map, I don't ever recall it being highlighted as a featured attraction of Paris. It should be. What a beautiful oasis amidst the urban landscape. Its terracing, waterfalls, etc., make it quite unique among city parks.

@darylcarter1 I really like this park. It's cool for kids, too, because it has so many neat things that other parks lack. The waterfall is huge, the "grotto" is semi-spooky, the streams are pleasant (and artificially "enhanced" to be more attractive), and so on. There used to be tunnels you could walk through in the central butte, but lately I've seen the doors to those locked. You get a lot of exercise hiking around this park, too.

My wife likes this one very much. It is better than what we have seen in TV shows about this park.

@joebstewart Thanks. I'm glad someone has watched it. It doesn't seem to be very popular. The park itself is a very interesting and pleasant place to visit, and tourists don't even seem to know that it's there.
