Update (June 22, 2009): Sea Launch has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection citing recurring losses from operations.

  • it was a desperate attempt to cut away from the explosion footage, but it was a couple of seconds too late.

  • It is not a failure, it is a total success. The goal was obviously the submersion of the unit. The explosion is there mainly for the purpose of distraction of any accidental viewers and making it more difficult to heat-track the submerging missile.

  • @derman077 That huge fireball was the fuel. I doubt any of it went into the water.

  • Imagining the looks on their faces when they got quiet made me laugh. Then I remembered the mass amounts of fuel in the ocean.
