This will once and for all show what kind of man Joseph Smith was. You have to make your mind up after this, because, here's what Mormon leaders have told their members to do:
George Albert Smith: "If a faith will not bear to be investigated; if its preachers and professors are afraid to have it examined, their foundation must be very weak." Journal of Discourses, Volume 14, Page 216
John Taylor: "I think a full, free talk is frequently of great use; we want nothing secret nor underhanded, and I for one want no association with things that cannot be talked about and will not bear investigation." Journal of Discourses, Volume 20, Page 264.
Dr. Hugh Nibley: "The Book of Mormon can and should be tested. It invites criticism." An Approach to The Book of Mormon, 1957, p. 13.
Brigham Young: "Take up the Bible, compare the religion of the Latter-day Saints with it, and see if it will stand the test." Journal of Discourses, Volume 16, p. 46, 1873
Orson Pratt: "Convince us of our errors of Doctrine, if we have any, by reason, by logical arguments, or by the Word of God and we will ever be grateful for the information and you will ever have the pleasing reflections that you have been instruments in the hands of God of redeeming your fellow beings." The Seer, p. 15
Joseph Fielding Smith: "Mormonism, as it is called, must stand or fall on the story of Joseph Smith. He was either a prophet of God, divinely called, properly appointed and commissioned, or he was one of the biggest frauds this world has ever seen. There is no middle ground." Doctrines of Salvation, Page 188.

The Book of Mormon contains King James Bible translation errors. For example, in 2 Nephi 14:5 which is the same as Isaiah 4:5, the correct translation of the Hebrew "Chuppah" is "canopy," not "defence." Another example is in 2 Nephi 15:25 (which is the same as Isaiah 5:25). The correct translation of the Hebrew "cuwchah" is "filth," not "torn."
The Book of Mormon contains some 27,000 words from the King James Bible, approximately 25,000 from the Old Testament and approximately 2,000 from the New Testament. If the King James Bible was published 1,190 years after Moroni allegedly buried the gold plates in 421 A.D., how did Moroni incorporate the 1611 A.D. King James Bible (including two Hebrew to English translation errors) into his gold plates? It's impossible. Thus based upon this alone, the Book of Mormon cannot be the translation of an ancient document.
Joseph Smith conveniently predicted himself by adding to the King James Translation of the Bible at the end of Genesis (Genesis 50:26) and extending Genesis out to verse 33 in the Joseph Smith Translation of the Bible.
I almost left the church because of this information... despite witnessing many miricals inside the mormon church... I eventually asked god about this DNA evidence and recieved the answer that when he cursed the laminites with a mark of darker skin, he changed the dna building blocks to change there skin... Crisis averted...

@docttrent Excuse me for asking, but do you have personal freedom to thoroughly investigate Joseph Smith's background history and the books you read, and even question things in LDS?
I've done some research, and found out that the bible text in the BOM is plagiarized from KJV 1611.
Of course, the archaeology evidence is zero.
If you are told that everyone else is lying and false, then you are kept in an prison of delusions, with invisible bars.
I dare you prove me J S didn't plagiarize KJV.

@docttrent Reply 2: (See my first reply first). You wrote about DNA, but what do you say when the DNA of the Indians shows that they actually derive from Northeastern Asia, and futhermore, that the Indians have lived in America much longer than what is implied in the BOM by Joseph Smith? Their forfathers came some 20,000 to 30,000 years ago to America. They have dug up pottery that predates the Ice Age by several thousands of years. History doesn't lie. Or do you have other ideas? Peace out.

Titus 2:11 For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. 12 It teaches us to say "No" to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, 13 while we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, 14 who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.

@LMR5878 One really has to connect all the threads in context and combind them all into understanding. The works of our flesh is no good, not even if we have been reborn.
Have you been reborn by water and Spirit?
If not, then you can neither see or enter the Kingdom of God. John 3:3-6.
Those who are led by the Spirit (God's Spirit) are not under Law. Galatians 5:18-26
Grace is a free and unearned favour of God, divinely given blessing, given through faith, not by works. Ef 2:8. Peace
