NINA PALEY, Independent Filmmaker and Artist-In-Residence at QuestionCopyright.org
Nina Paley's 2009 feature film Sita Sings the Blues combines the ancient Indian epic Ramayana with 1920's American jazz and contemporary animation. Focusing her talk around the film's production, licensing struggles and eventual "copyleft" release, Paley discusses artistic liberty in an era of copyright wars, censorship, and religious extremism on March 9, 2011 -- Library Gallery -- 4:00 p.m.
What a depressing presentation! If I would have done the work she has done, I would have at least known better how to present my work.
She is unprepared, casual, unclear about the inspirations, moving too quickly from one point to another without having completely explained the former and not doing so with the latter as well.
She is talking too much about how she did the project in the beginning instead of talking about the film and it's inspirations clearly before going into the making.

Love all the good work you are doing. Not only with your animation but raising people's consciousness about copyright laws.
