For those who like submarine tales, this is a classic ... a bit dated by modern standards, but rip-roaring good entertainment. Those who were in the Silent Serevice in WWII [I was not] had a greater casualty rate than any other; this film should be dedicated to those who went to sea in boats, not ships.

  • good stuff

  • @BeantownJim Thanks.

  • Gable and Lancaster, two GIANTS of the silver screen,in the same movie. No Company could afford to have such a stellar cast in the same film these days'.Thanks for the update, great movie, and I love the aforementioned stars.

  • @MOGGS1942 Great actors, good storyline. Even though its black and white it still holds its own

  • Thanks for this upload! My 13 yr old son and I are popping popcorn and starting this movie. It's his first time to see this movie, my 20th or so. I used to watch it with my dad, God Bless his soul. The popcorn's ready! Thank's again!

  • @DMarksmanLima21 Thanx for comment, Hope you both enjoyed P-Corn & the movie. ;)

  • @videomaniac108 now he is in the naval research institute we were trying to get a veteran i know who was on an LST into the naval research institiute but he died

  • Cool movie THANKS for posting man!!!!!

  • Great cast in this movie all around —especially Clark Gable and Burt Lancaster. BTW, you can believe the submarine in this movie is every bit as cramped as it seems. I've crawled around in one of those old boats at a WW2 museum. I had to duck passing through every hatchway and the wardroom barely has enough room for a man to change his mind in.

  • @videomaniac108 The book is superb!!!!! The detail Beach describes submarine warfare kept me getting up in the middle of the night to read his book. Still love this movie but the book, WOW!!!

  • Correction: Cmdr. Edward Beach, not Beech.

  • The movie is based on the novel of the same name by Cmdr. Edward Beech, USN. I read it after having watched the movie and can heartily recommend the book.

  • I like this movie, a classic but how the heck did Gable or anyone survive the first boat's destruction let alone make it to the surface? (My favorite sub movie is The Below)

  • Still my favorite sub movie.
