In 1945 Mastroiani started working for a film company and began taking acting lessons. His first acting credit was in I Miserabili (1948). He became a major international star, starring in La dolce Vita.
Mastroiani,Dean Stockwell and Jack Lemon are the only actors to have twice won best actor at the Cannes film festival.
Mastroiani was married to italian actress Flora Carabella, they had one child Barbara.
Mastroiani also had a daughter,Chiara Mastroiani with the actress Catherine Deneuve, his longtime lover during the seventies. Both Flora and Catherine were at his bedside when he died of pancreatic cancer in 1996 at the age of 72.
He played in more then 100 movies, a lot of them with Sofia Loren.

  • @laylafrackiewicz You did a beautiful job, I love Marcello Mastroianni, is a large, live where I am Italian as he is buried in the Verano cemetery in Rome, he was very fond of my country had various homes throughout Italy, but in recent years decided to go and live in Paris, where he remained until the day of his death on 19 December 1996.

  • @melofaiilpiacere Yeah i know, even when he could have made films in america, he didn't want to, not only because of his english, but of love for his country. i respect that.

    Did you know that he died on my birthday? i just turned 17 that day.
