Finally, here's my reply to onceforgivennowfree's (Matt's) response to Holy Hallucinations 20. It's taken me quite a while to make this because it was the most difficult script I've had to write so far. Not because of the quality of his arguments, I should add, but because of the sheer number of new subjects he introduced. The original was twice as long as the final product and as it is this is the longest video I've ever made and give's Matt far more attention than he merits, so deciding what not to address was quite a chore.

The topics I would have like to have dealt with in more detail include some of his comments on the "What is life?" panel discussion, some more information on abiogenesis and the evolution of proteins, and more details on his example of the evolution of domestic dogs. In the latter case I could have gone on for much longer but because of time constraints chose to focus on Matt's claims about information loss and not the evolutionary process itself. In this instance, I would have liked to include more details on: exactly why evolutionary theory predicts that these processes should be unidirectional (which Matt seems to think argues against it); why some alleles are actually lost from these populations by processes such as genetic drift; and how new ones (i.e. information) arise (including numerous new mutations in extant dog breeds) to provide new variation for selection to act on.

The video I'm responding to, "TheLivingDinosaur gets fossilized!!!" can be found at:

Also, thanks to everyone who took the time to give me their opinion on my animation style. The majority of you were happy with it, but a significant number suggested that maybe the number of images could be reduced a little. I've tried to do that here by slowing down the speed of the images so they stay on screen for longer. This obviously means less images (and potential puns), but on the up side it also speeds things up for me so the video takes less time to make. Anyway, feel free to let me know if this makes things better or worse, whether you can't tell the difference or don't give a toss!

Finally, I'm serving on jury duty for the whole of next month and I'm not sure how balancing that with work and home will eat into my spare time, so it might be up to a couple of months before you see a new video on this channel. So be patient and, as always, thanks for your support and stay tuned.

  • "A fucking psychologist"? .. I enjoy your videos and your general tone, however I felt slightly hurt about your comment regarding psychology. Why should the fact that an author has a degree in psychology in any way indicate that he shouldn't be trusted? I'll grant you that biology is only showed limited attention within psychology as a whole, however many fucking psychologists has more than a basic understanding of areas within biology because it's relevant to their research.

  • @THC1989 It was poorly phrased, I agree and was pointed out a long time ago in this comments section. As I explained there, my intent was to point out that his he was not exactly qualified to writing an article critiquing modern molecular biology. I should have been more precise with my wording.

  • @TheJohnVandivier The only thing your comment demonstrates is that you don;t know the meaning of the word "scientific". Either that or that you're a joking.

  • Proof that god exists is also proof that it can be made to stop existing.

I can't *wait* until they prove their god to me. I need to know where to set the charges.

  • As soon as I hear someone say without god we can't have moral values I label him as a person who lacks of intelligence and common sense.

  • A Christian asking for evidence? Isn't that just a waste of time? You can present them all the evidence they want, but they still will deny it...So what is the point?

  • @alphaenemy Yeah, I had some similar thoughts. It's a tough call, but The Poop, for abuse of power, gets my vote as well.

  • @trueleroix I'm just having a little fun, but actually, regarding science, certainly the Poop deserves more credit. However, concerning human rights and morality, I'd actually have to give the dumb dumb twins the credit. Yeah, they lie, but they don't go telling AIDS riddled Africans that condoms are the Devil, to my knowledge.

  • @alphaenemy was it difficult to decide whether The Poop or the creatards deserved more of your derision? When I read this comment, I pictured myself paused in uncertainty about that decision if I were the one writing it.

  • I take umbrage on your use of a picture of Pope Benedict alongside Hovind and Hamm. Benedict accepts evolution, so he at least deserves that credit. He should be propped next to pictures of slugs and worms, not something so vile and nasty as Hovind and Hamm.

  • TheLivingDinosaur: There is no way to reconcile science and theistic belief, none whatsoever.

Something can not "exist" in nothing, therefore there can't be any god "before" time/space. And god can't sure as hell create something in nothing. The only scenario that contains not one contradiction zip/nil/zero/null, is infinite time/space. Meaning time and space has always existed. Every single theistic claim of creation contains a mountain of contradictions/logical fallacies/errors.

  • that. was. mother. fucking. epic.

  • Where does the phrase ,,Olympian dishonesty,, come from.Greek mythology or smth else?
