This is the second part of a tutorial on how to make a froufy and flirty traditional (sewn), romantic bell-shaped tutu that ties with a satin ribbon sash on the back, side, or front.

For intermediate sewers, die hard feminine fashionistas, ballerinas, and ballerina wannabes

  • if i wear this under a dress will it flatten?

  • @destiny829 it definitely flattens more than a traditional crinoline, but you can always pouf it back out. plus, the more layers of tulle you add, the poufier it gets! :)

  • This is fabulous. I also make dress-up veils and your tutu is a huge version of my veils. think big eh? If you make a 9" waist version of your tutu and glue it to a headband, you have a veil and then add embellishment.

  • @dogshaus um, AWESOME! I never even thought of that. and if you made a skirt version veil, yours could be all lady gaga and stuff ;) tutus for the head!

  • Are you going to show how to make the underskirt please i love your stuff

  • I loved this tutorial! I wouldn't say that it isn't easy. In terms of being comprehensible it's a piece of cake. It's just that tulle is "fiddly", lol, you have to fiddle with it a lot, and I can see that it's tedious work. But you explain it very well, so it's not hard per se. Great job!

  • best tutorial!

  • @AnjouClothing that site really helps! thank you soo much! I'm starting tacking my tutu right now btw. thaanks!

  • @TheChaiTeaLatte Yikes! I'm not sure where you purchased that tutu, but a "pancake" tutu definitely should NOT look like that. I've personally never made one (one day, I will learn!), but in searching I found this ah-mazing site that actually shows you exactly how to transform a normal tutu into a pancake tutu:

(inspiringtutus.blogspot.com/2011/06/tacking-or-quilting-your-dance-tutu) If you scroll down, there is a link for her youtube tutorial. Hope that helps!

  • @AnjouClothing seriously your tutus are really pretty! just like how I imagine performing tutus look like :) you're really good at this! ah, I also have this concern over my new tutu (I bought one in the end) this is the link of my vid wearing my new tutu watch?v=K559Jaorp6M I don't like it, because it's supposed to be pancake but when I received it, it's like out of shaped non tacked powder puff tutu :( any tips on flattening it? I heard smth about tacking but don't quite understand :(
