Following up with comments I made on part 2 and 3, you can trace the New Age Movement back to the Theosophical Society. Helena Blavatsky and Alice Bailey were major proponents of that, and today, they're highly regarded by New Age. They channeled spirits when writing their books. It's called automatic writing. @9:01, this occultist is talking about spirits who wake Shyamalan up in the middle of the night to write. Just more casual speculation that the "hoax" may just be cosmetic.
