yea its strange like sometimes when my dog does hear sirens, she starts to howl like crazy its wierd lol

@rodemay i haven't heard one in my neighbors yard in about a month but during the summer it was at least once or twice a week. now that it's getting colder i guess they don't go out as much. one of my friends think that they don't like the sirens but another thinks that they think the sirens are other coyotes.

We have coyote here in Kansas. It always sends shivers down my spine hearing a pack of them howl at night

we get coyotes howling around my house too. it freaks our cats out. around here they're set off by the sirens from ambulences and police. we've also gotten just one yipping in our neighbors yard. they sound mournful like a wolf, very haunting

@MaraJ. Our cat does not want to hear coyotes either. Isn't it strange that dogs and coyotes answer sirens? Are they talking to the siren or does it hurt their ears. How often do they go through your neighbor's yard?

@pippimom In my opinion, a coyote has a very distinct sound. More of a highpitched yip-howl. I know that sounds a lot like the sound dogs make, but they really are different. Plus, coyotes usually howl in packs. A dog is usually howling by itself.
