I see your point of view. A lot of people would start insulting you for thinking badly of any of the messages in this movie. I am a proud RENTHEAD but I am also one to look at both sides of an opinion (there are exceptions to this). If someone asked me "If someone paid you $1,000 to play the drums so much that a dog killed itself, would you do it?" I honestly don't know how I would answer that. The dog killed itself though. Besides, Benny deserves it. But I do see your point of vew.

Angel has plenty of options to get some money and the route the character took was one of the worst. I would have been just as disappointed if the character "sold" himself on the street. But to defend the character's action in the killing of the a pet dog is disturbing and reflective of a culture who's morals are suspect. I know I have little or no chance of getting any "RENTHEADS" to even think about this. Rather I expect to be called all sorts of names and be accused of being intolerant.

Few people agree agree with me because to voice any opposition to the messages in RENT are met with distain and name calling. What ever happened to tolerance? I think there are lots of positive things about RENT. I saw it performed live on stage by a professional company and was impressed with the production of the show. Great music, lighting, staging etc. Some very clever things were done in the show. But I didn't like everything. The Angel character and the killing of the dog was low grade.

ShastaLOL, I understand where you are coming from about his incentive for doing what he did, BUT, it would be nice if he didn't use an upbeat song and dance to tell the story of killing an animal. Pretty insensitive and very out of character, (in my opinion).

I thought Angel was really a woman when I first saw this scene in RENT (I didn't know anything about the movie) Look at those heels!

I wish I could do Rent at my highschool! Unfortunatly, everyone else in my town is homophobic and racist. *Sigh* I hope your school did it justice at least! ^_^
