@LuvSarahBrown she didn't pull away. he let go and her hand was just there. We will never know what she was going to say to him, I think he just got scared that he got too close and he didn't want to push her away. At least that is what I got. Especially the smile she had after she collected herself.

@EmmyLou024 At this stage I don't think Beckett's denying she loves Castle, so I can't agree with why she pulled away. She's definitely apprehensive, but I just don't think she's ready yet to dive in completely with him. She's no longer saying I don't love him. I can see season 3 Beckett using that line as an excuse, but not season 4's Beckett.

You can almost see the subtle war Beckett is having with herself all over her face. (damn, Stana can act!) The way I'm reading this he hadn't intended to elicit this reaction from her by the uncomfortable way he retreated.
