Dr. Rothberg discusses the first sequencing of an individual human genome. The genome was presented in May 2007 to Dr. Watson at Baylor College of Medicine.
This represented the first individual genome ever to be sequenced, as well as the first genome sequenced on a chip. "The first of the rest of us" and the dawning of the age of personal medicine.
Dr. Rothberg is the father of Next-Generation sequencing and the founder of 454. In this ceremony Dr. Rothberg presented to Dr. Watson his genome, the first individual human genome (as documented by public release on the entire genome on the world wide web), and the first individual human genome ever done on a chip.
Well presented. I am glad he made it to college. I would hope that none of our brightest would be stifeled by the expense of education, if they should choose to seek it.
