It's a confession of a person's feelings. You ve never felt like your were just so in love with someone and felt like dyin when he/she didn't love you back?? It's not even about the rest of the lyrics..the repetition of the phrase "I want you"...When you experience unrequited love for somebody then all you want to say is "I want you".."Nobody will ever want you or love you more than me"..That's what it's all about..It's not about flattery or unhealthy psychosis.

I think any guy who has ever had his wife/girlfriend cheat on him knows exactly what this song is about - and how (like one other poster mentioned) you could forgive, but it would always come creeping back.....

Every guy has these feelings but either we supress them or just do not say it to the other person.Elvis speaks of his feelings in their purest form. He does not sugercoat or anything, tells them the way he feels.The one time that he says "I want you" after the line "And you were fool enough to love it when he said", his tone is different cause he imitates the other guy...these are really nice details.

i thought this song was about a girl cheating for the longest time, then me and a friend of mine had a conversation about it and concluded its along of the lines of guy having a girlfriend and him being obsessed with her past boyfriends (or one night stands). its almost a jealousy song. thats what it means to me anyway but everyone opinion is different. definitly a very exciting song, one of my favorites that i've come across in my short life so far.
