These are the ornaments I made for the ornament exchange this year. It wasn't my first choice in ornaments but what was, was taking WAY too long so I settled for these. They turned out better than I had hoped!

The idea came from a free project sheet I picked up at my local Hobby Lobby. It can be seen online here: http://www.hobbylobby.com/assets/pdf/project_inspiration/projects/hl-276642.pdf
You can use the tassel toppers they sell for 4.99 or make your own for less than a buck. I chose the latter.

What you'll need:
1/4" ribbon (8 cut to 16" and 6 cut to 4")
1/4" ribbon (1 piece cut to 18")
3/8" ribbon (6 cut to 7")
5/8" ribbon (12 cut to 12")
5/8" grosgrain ribbon (8 cut to 3")
cording or fringe (1 piece cut to approx. 6")
wooden candlestick (Wood Shoppe item #198853, 1 7/8"x1 3/4", 7/8" hole)
finial dowel cap (Wood Shoppe item # 621672, 1 1/16", 1/2" hole)
wooden wheel - 1 1/4"
20mm round faceted bead (I used a 21x15mm faceted acrylic bead)
6mm fluted metal beads (8)
heavy duty thread or nylon cord
16 gauge wire (to secure tassel)
floral wire (20-22 gauge for a makeshift 'needle')
a drill and a 5/32" or 3/16" drill bit
hot glue (lots of it)

To see how it's done, watch the video!

  • I had way too much going on when the ornament exchange was announced. I will definitely join in next year if "big daddy" is kind enough to give me another year on earth and if the creek doesn't rise!!

Can't wait for the after Christmas ribbon sales. You did a wonderful job!!!! They are gorgeous !!!

  • Beautiful!! Darn it, now I wish I had decided to be in both groups in the exchange!! :o)

  • These were simply the most beautiful ornaments :))

  • You are so creative Jason, this came out so beautiful! You could probably even sell your ornaments too! I really enjoyed watching you create this, came out so pretty!

  • Wow, what a lot of work! They are beautiful and I love mine that I got in the ornament exchange! Thank you again! Loved seeing how you made it!!

  • @mastrama13 LOL!! It certainly is a lot of different numbers but some people need ALL the details. I can improvise but some need everything laid out for them. That's the only reason all the numbers are there, LOL!! Thanks Antonio!!

  • @MaryJaneSlingBacks Thank you!
